Raul Barbieri - Giorgio Marianelli
Born in 1946 in Milan and in 1939 in Castiglioncello, in the Province of Livorno, respectively, both graduate with a degree in Architecture from Politecnio di Milano, the city into which Marianelli moves in 1968 to work at the Olivetti Industrial Design Department directed by Ettore Sottsass. There he meets Raul Barbieri and with him in 1974 he establishes the Barbieri e Marianelli Architetti studio, which signs the first, iconic Rexite products, such as the Safe Tray ashtray, the Cribbio waste basket and the Aiuto coat stand. In 1990 Marianelli opens his own architecture and industrial design studio and works with the best known Italian design companies. Many of his projects receive important international awards. Giorgio Marianelli passes away in 1998.
